Welcome Jude Abbott Sikora

Jude Abbott Sikora
April 18, 2014
6:59 a.m.
7 lbs. 14 oz.
22 inches

I was awoken from sleep around 3:00 a.m. with some cramping.  I got up from bed and sat in the recliner to sleep for a bit.  When I noticed that the cramping seemed to be coming more regularly than the Braxton Hicks contractions that I'd been having lately, I decided to shower.  I didn't want to sound the alarm at that hour unless I was sure.  As I stood in the shower the cramping continued and had begun to get closer together.  Once I began to time the contractions they were coming about every three to four minutes.  At this time I woke up Jeremy and he put a call into our sitter who was at our house within a half hour.  We pulled onto base at 5 a.m., got admitted when they checked me and I was 7 cm.  We were in the delivery room soon after.  The pushing this time around lasted a bit longer than I liked.  It took several more minutes of pushing than with Owen (who spoiled me).  I guess I thought I was gonna go in there push once and have a baby.  Jude's cord was wrapped around his neck so that created a little bit of a scare and encouraged me to finish the job.  Jeremy was able to announce the gender and really, neither of us were surprised.  We had felt all along that we would be having a baby boy.  It was a joyful Good Friday.  We were blessed with visitors all throughout the day and got to bring Jude home the following afternoon.

Baby Sprinkles, Showers, and Outpouring of Kindness

You would think I am having my first child rather than my fourth, as spoiled as I've been by family and friends.  A couple of weekends ago I got to spend the evening out with some of my favorite people.  My sisters (plus sisters in laws) and my mom got together for pampering (manis and pedis), which I desperately needed followed by an amazing dinner at Figlio in Grandview and the best and biggest piece of cake I've eaten in a while.  As if that were not enough, they even got me and the baby super sweet gifts.

One of my gifts was a handmade sign for the baby's room made by my sister Heidi.
I love it.

The same week, the ladies in my bible study surprised me with a small shower.  It was totally unexpected and such a sweet and thoughtful surprise.
I just feel so blessed from the outpouring of love and support during the last several months.  God is good.
