First Foods

He certainly wasn't disappointed to have something in his hands to munch on, but when it fell out he was greatly bothered.

Jude had no idea what to think of the oatmeal. We can't really say that it was the first time he ate solid foods because I don't think he swallowed any of it.  He did enjoy the experience as you can see. By the end of it, he was covered in everything.

4 Month Stats

I finally got around to taking Jude in for his 4 month check-up.  Now almost five months old but, here are his stats:

September 5, 2014

Height: 23.5 inches (47%)
Weight: 14 lb. 12 oz. (32%)
Head Circumference: 42.8 cm (52%)
He is sitting briefly in his Bumbo Chair.  After a minute or two he starts to slouch over the side.

Jude is 4 Months

Jude continues to amaze us with how easy he is.  He is adaptable, sleeps well, gives smiles, tolerates being left alone in his swing, on the floor, under his play mat, and is patient with big siblings that like to give lots of smothering love.
This month Jude has mastered rolling from front to back and back to front.  He is beginning to roll around to get from place to place.  We often leave him in one spot and when we come back he is halfway across a room.  He continues to suck his thumb and is getting more efficient in getting it into his mouth. He takes a pacifier but once it falls out his thumb immediately goes into his mouth and he is instantly calmed.  He has learned to soothe himself.
Jude is learning to grasp things like the toys that hang from his playmate or a small rattle.
Jude's sleeping patterns are miraculous.  He goes to bed around 8:30 and remains asleep until between 3 and 5.  He wakes up for one feeding before going right back to sleep and waking up in the morning around 9.  Naptime is twice a day (sometimes with an additional cat nap in the evening).  His naps typically last 2 hours each.
I am still nursing him.  During the day he eats about every three hours and is a very quick eater.  He will take a bottle when I am gone which makes it a little easier to get away.
He loves interacting with us.  He giggles when we tickle him and lights up when we play with him.
Such a sweet little guy!

Three Month Photos

Just thought I'd post a few of my favorite pictures of Jude from this past month (3 months old).

Rolling Over

As of yesterday Jude can roll in both directions.  Often it is still by accident and he gets frustrated when he ends up on his back, where it is more difficult for him to get thumb into his mouth.

3 Months

It is nearly impossible to believe that Jude is three months old.  The days fly by with four kids.  Jude continues to be the most perfect baby.  He is as easy as I can imagine a baby being.  He takes great naps, usually three times a day lasting for about two hours each.  He is even sleeping very well at night.    On a typical night he goes to bed around 9:30 and sleeps until 3 or 4, then goes back to sleep after nursing until 8:30 or 9.  He has slept through the night twice, so we are feeling a bit more human now that we are getting some more predictable sleep.
This month he has been really interactive in his smiling.  He responds to our voices with great big smiles.  He loves being sung to and just being in our presence.  He is starting to grasp things and suck his thumb.  Every time I go to his crib to get him he is happily sucking away.  He still struggles to get his thumb to his mouth when sitting up but is a pro when lying down. We still give him a pacifier, which he takes and it always calms him.   He enjoys being in his swing or being held.  He tolerates his carseat but does a good amount of crying in it when we travel.  He likes baths.  He is learning to kick and splash.  I love watching him kick his little legs around when he is excited.  He is also beginning to make cooing noises, which I love.
Jude is very tolerant of his older siblings.  He is jostled around and being loved on constantly.

I Found My Thumb

So far Jude has enjoyed his pacifier.  From only a few days old he has taken it easily and we've used it to sooth him.  Just recently he has discovered his hands and has shown a lot of interest in sucking his thumb.  He works really hard to get it into his mouth, but once it is there he is very content.  He doesn't try to suck his fingers or knuckles.  He specifically wants his thumb.
